Kenneth Leonard Maltby, age 78, from Lake Keesus, WI, completed his stairway to heaven and passed away peacefully at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI on February 22, 2018.
He was born August 14, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI to his beloved parents Theodore and Aurelia Maltby. After graduating from Messmer High School in 1957, Kent served in the Air Force during the early stages of the Vietnam War from January, 1959 to January 1963. He was assigned to Strategic Air Command and served as a boom operator, refueling jets over Vietnam. After active duty, he served 2 additional years in the reserves. Once honorably discharged, he began his journey of continuing his education at Universities such as UW – Milwaukee, UM – Madison, Florida Atlantic University and Cardinal Stritch. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Education and pursued a career in Milwaukee Public Schools for over 30 years.
During his educational journey, he met and married his southern bell, Linda Lou Sturm on December 28, 1970. After being blessed with their first two children (Kym and Kurt), Kent and Linda embarked on their next voyage by moving out of the suburbs of Milwaukee and to a small cozy home on the east shores of Lake Keesus in Merton, WI. Lake Keesus is where they called home and raised 5 healthy children. Kent was a firm believer of tradition and patriotism. He and his family celebrated each Fourth of July with an honorable and passionate flag raising, pledge to the flag, national anthem and firework display.
Kent was a man of infinite wisdom and truly believed Vince Lombardi’s priorities of life by always putting God first, Family second, and of course the Green Bay Packers third. He was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, Godfather, Brother and Son of our Lord. He never missed
a child’s sporting event, continuously made sacrifices to provide for his family, and truly believed in every single word of the Lord’s Prayer
– The Our Father.
Immediate family survived is his wife Linda Lou Maltby, his children –
Kym (Phil Schank), Kurt (Jenni Maltby), Keith (Liz Maltby), Kelly (Chad Niemyer) and Kevin (Angie Maltby), his 13 grandchildren, his sisters Joan (the late Jack Kehoe), Shirley (Jim Lyberger), his brother Teddy (Peggy), and first cousin Fred (Mary).
Kent will be missed by many and we invite you to join us in celebrating
