D. Robert “Bob” Grant, 98, of North Lake, WI, passed away on
February 12, 2017.

He was born October 6, 1918 in Iola, WI to Arthur and Lillian (Waldo) Grant. He grew up in Iola, attending school and working at the local creamery. He also competed in ski jumping at the Knutson Hill in Iola. He continued working at the creamery until he met his future wife Gertrude Sether. They married on November 14, 1941, celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary last November.

Bob was a licensed butter maker in Shawno, WI and moved to Milwaukee in 1946. He spent his career as a service man and service manager for Shellenberger-Gregg. He became a part owner of the company and worked there until the business was sold in 1980. Even after retirement, he owned “Handyman-Bob Grant” a home-based repair business in North Lake

Bob and Gertie built their first home in Fox Point where they lived for 20 years. In 1972, they moved to North Lake in Waukesha County, enjoying all the activities of the lake. Bob fished, pontooned, sailed and was often seen skiing on the lake until he was 80 years old. He was also Commodore of the North Lake Yacht Club. After 42 years, they moved from the lake to an apartment in Neenah, and for the last year and a half, have resided in Appleton,
 close to family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Gertie, three daughters, CyAnn, Mary and Carol, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was very active in many organizations and volunteer groups. When living in Milwaukee, Bob was a Shriner with the Tripoli Masonic Lodge of Milwaukee. He was a member of and held several volunteer positions in three different Presbyterian churches in southeastern WI. Bob served the Lord by working with the Stone Bank Lions and was part of the Gideon’s and the “jail ministry” by spreading the “Word” to inmates.
