Jean Hilger (nee Gagan) of Hartland, joined her husband John in heaven on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the age of 85.
She was born on March 28, 1931 to parents Ralph and Ester (Hochmuth) Gagan on Hill Street in Hartland. She attended Hartland Grade school and was a 1949 graduate of Hartland High School. Jean was employed as a dental assistant for 31 years and in addition worked at the Christian Science Retirement home for 12 years.
Jean was a lifelong member of St. Charles Parish, serving as Mission Ladies Funeral Lunch Chairperson for 31 ½ years. She was a proud member of the Hartland American Legion Auxiliary for 67 years. For 12 years Jean played clarinet in the Oconomowoc American Legion Band marching in 1 Rose Bowl Parade and 2 Inaugural Parades during the Eisenhower Regime.
Preceding Jean in death were her beloved husband of 51 years John in 2011, her parents and her sister Shirley Roberts. She is survived by 4 nieces Kim (Darin) Brewer, Kelly (Dennis) Allston, Kari Roberts and Kris (Joe) Vetter, brother-in-law Ken Roberts, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church 313 Circle Drive, Hartland.
A lunch reception will follow in the Borromeo Room.
Visitation will be held at church from 3:00 PM until the Hartland American
Legion Auxiliary Service at 4:45 PM.
Final rest will be in St. Charles Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Charles Parish, the Flanagan Dorn American Legion Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society.
