Teresa Rosemary Skiba (nee Dillon) of Oconomowoc, WI was 75 years old when she passed away. Terry found peace on November 27, 2017 at 8:49 pm, surrounded by her family at AngelsGrace Hospice after hearing a private cello concert by her grandson Dillon. It is exactly the way she would want to have been escorted from this world—listening to her favorite classical music played by her grandson.
Born on December 27, 1941 in Park Falls WI, Terry was the daughter of the late Matilda Ann Dillon (nee Kronberger) and Walter William Dillon.
Terry worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) counselor, and as a client advocate, working on the streets with the homeless--positions that demonstrated her lifelong commitment to helping others. She was proud to be a 45 year member of the Alanon Family Program.
Terry enjoyed numerous hobbies, including working in her wood shop, creating art through painting and drawing, and proudly riding her much-loved Harley Davidson motorcycle. Even after her diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) and being confined to wearing continuous oxygen, Terry continued to ride her motorcycle. Terry had a hard life but enjoyed it to the fullest. She loved her family and friends, especially her church family, and she died knowing she was loved dearly by us all.
Terry was survived by her wife of nearly 25 years Jeanne Phelan, and three sisters, two brothers, four children, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Surviving siblings: Maryann Dillon-Guell (Mel), Margaret Fischer, Daniel Dillon (Caroline), Angie Dillon Haber (Mark) and Thomas “Matt” Dillon.
Surviving children and grandchildren: son, Paul Skiba, grandson Joe Skiba; son Mark Skiba (Lisa), grandson Ryan Skiba (Mikaela), granddaughter Britney Tenaglia (Joe); son Bill Skiba (Dawn), granddaughter Casey Medved (Joseph), grandson Dillon Skiba; and her daughter Carole Milos (Dan), granddaughter Katelyn Windau (Jon), and grandson Luke Milos.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ located at 36821 Sunset Dive, Oconomowoc, WI 53066 (actually located in Dousman). Gathering at 10:30 am, service at 11:00 am immediately followed by a lunch in the Fellowship Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Terry’s church (Emmanuel United Church of Christ) are suggested.
Special thanks to Dr. Kristen Vento, Dr. Kelly Cooke, Dr. Valerie Bonne, and the remarkable staff at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
